Solar Tower

At 1km high, the Solar Tower, as it’s known, will be the tallest man made structure in the world. Essentially, it is a very tall chimney stack that funnels wind up it’s length, which in turn drives turbines that will generate eletricity.

It will be located near Mildura - my home town as a kid! The project has taken a few years to get off the ground due to the cost, but the 25,000 acre lot of land has just been bought recently and development is on the way.

I heard of this project a while back, but haven’t heard much about it for some time, until recently. I thought it was one of those wild ideas that would never eventuate. It has got the backing of the Federal Government so I guess they are serious about it.

They expect the area to attract tourist who want to come and see the tower. It seems there’s a lift built into the side of the tower. I’ve never caught a lift up 1km before. I bet the view would be quite spectacular.

Swimming piglets in the "Pig Olympics", Shanghai

The games are under way! Well…for pigs that is.

In Shanghai they have organised an Olympic Games especially for pigs. “Pig Olympics” they are calling it.

The pigs are a special midget breed from Thailand that have been trained to swim, jump, run…but, as of yet, not quite fly.

They are then put through their paces against each other to see who will come out as top swine!

It just goes to show, that these little piggies are quite clever indeed, but I can’t help but wonder what their retirement package would be…

Feeling peckish? Craving for a burger? If you live in London you could go to the Zuma restaurant, in Knightsbridge, and grabbed yourself a tasty burger.

Well, it had better be tasty, because it would set you back STG55 ($134)!

At $559 per kilo, the beef is from cattle of the Japanese wagyu breed. These cattle are reared on beer and receive regular massages to keep them in top condition.

“The meat rivals foie gras for richness, tenderness, calorific content - and cost. It’s also the only beef proven to reduce cholesterol levels.”

Zuma owner Rainer Becker said he introduced the burger after a request from James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, who ordered wagyu beef while the two dined in Japan.

At $134 a burger, each bite costs $9. So, make sure you chew slowly!
